CoQ10 reduces inflammation and oxidative stress
Effects of Coenzyme Q10 Supplementation on Inflammatory Cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6) and Oxidative Stress in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Limited isolation of ubiquinol effects
We engaged in a careful exploration of how Coenzyme Q10, commonly known as CoQ10, affects patients with rheumatoid arthritis. By conducting a double-blind, randomized controlled trial including 44 participants, we divided them into two groups: one received daily capsules of 100 mg CoQ10 while the other was given a placebo for two months.

Our main focus was on monitoring changes in proinflammatory cytokines, specifically TNF-α and IL-6, and assessing levels of oxidative stress markers like malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC). The results were promising; we observed a significant drop in MDA levels among those taking CoQ10, which indicates a reduction in oxidative stress. Additionally, there was a noteworthy decrease in the levels of TNF-α in the CoQ10 group compared to those taking the placebo.

However, it is important to highlight that while this study demonstrates some beneficial effects of CoQ10 on inflammatory markers, we did not find significant differences in TAC and IL-6 between the groups. Overall, our findings suggest that CoQ10 supplementation may be a valuable addition to managing oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
